Natural Forms

This collection of three sculptures are a fusion of raw materiality and refined craftsmanship taking inspiration from tree and flower buds. Using Ash wood allows for an exploit of its versatile characteristics, using controlled burning to highlight the wood’s texture and create dramatic contrasts. The charred sections of the sculptures provide a stark juxtaposition to the meticulously smooth, waxed surfaces, resulting in works that are both tactile and visually compelling. Then placed back in a natural scene, the viewer is lead to engage with the transformative potential of natural materials and the power of form in space.
